DAILY DOSE: ANJA RUBIK

It always leaves me curious when a classic-looking model, with all of the same attributes as the army of tall-blonde-thin models that line up for castings, breaks through the good/great barrier and becomes a staple. Anja is the epitome of this anomaly, and I HEART her.

I've also got a soft spot for models with short hair....

Style Breeds: Charlotte Gainsbourg

A few weeks ago I posted a tribute to Serge Gainsbourg, a man of infinate style and soul. I'm not sure if I mentioned though, that the man had a daughter. He did incidentaly, have said daughter with the aforementioned Ms. Jane Birkin.

This young woman, Charlotte Gainsbourg, has been undoubtedly born into the one-two punch of style prowess.

Anyways... she's beautiful, and I'm surprised that she isn't more well known. But really... the best ones never are.

Stumbled upon this little tidbit last night... couldn't believe how inspired I felt by it.

I think it spoke to my indie/hippie/boho roots. I was so sad when the Mary-Kate Olsen look became passe. Please, will somebody let me know when its back again?

ALEXANDER WANG: SPRING 2011

Last season A. Wang made the side braid famous. He released a line of men's undies for women that went over surprisingly well. For Spring 2011, he's done almost an entirely white/cream line with the exception of a few tan pieces. The make-up was interesting though, Aggey just shaved her head, and they've slicked her hair back with white paint.

DAILY DOSE: DARIA WERBOWY

I have to admit that for the last 2 years of my life, I would open a magazine and would yelp "~gasp~ DARIA!" I was irrevocably in love with the Polish Born, Canadian bred Supermodel. For me, seeing her face was  hope, optimism and meant possibilities still awaited.

I've always had trouble finding recent pictures of her "Off Duty".

So these babies down here; these are shots of Daria On Duty, but in her civvies.

She's bleached her mane an airy shade of platinum blonde... and this Blogger is VERY jealous. Look at those shoulder pads!!

MARC By MARC JACOBS: Resort 2011

Seems to me that Marc was really feeling ruffles this season....

Its all rather cute... but not winning in my opinion. Resort collections are supposed to be about casual/luxury. The mauve polka set is the only stand-out in this line-up.

LARA STONE: No One Likes A Hater!

 It takes more than a supermodel status to get my approval. Lara has been on the top for an increasingly long amount of time. She's now on the same Top 10 lists with Gisele and Kate and Daria. EVERYONE loves this girl. Honestly, I loved her too until I read a little more. 


  Yes she's got a bodacious bod. Yeah okay... she's got a cool face. Yes.. alright, she's landed all of the blue chip clients that any girl could ever ask for. But to really top my Top 10 list... you've got to have a mind like Daria or a heart like Gisele or at least a philanthropist like Kate. 


  I've heard no such thing from this Dutch beauty. And, not only does having a terrible personality make you unworthy of your super-loved-supermodel status, but its also adding to the stereotype of stupid and shallow models. 


  Lara has stated that she "never wears someone that she hates..." refering to the many designers that she's on bad terms with. She's even pushed a model down a flight of stairs for getting in her way!! 


  I do however, appreciate the fact that she's gone to rehab and been sober for over a year. Anyone who can overcome an obstacle like alcoholism deserves at least a nod. I just hope she stays clean... or its going to be 0 for 2 for the stereotype.
