{La Lapine Française}

My new Etsy shop!

I'll be selling Jams, Jellies, Preserves, Curtains and Throw Pillows. A bit of a mix, I know.. but I think they will be loved!

Our goal is to take pride in everything that we make. All of our products will be made to order, to the customer's taste and preference. We deliver all around the world and will provide express delivery, special delivery and gift baskets upon request.

A few of my jam recipes include Apricot and Rosemary Jam; Fig, Onion and Beer Preserve; Chipotle and Whiskey Jelly; and Our Signature Raspberry and Dark Chocolate Jam.

You are all sworn to secrecy on those jam ideas, by the way. No one can know. There are people that would love nothing more than to steal that Apricot and Rosemary Jam idea!

We're in the middle of ordering custom labels and jars, along with a few swatches of fabric to get us started with the interior design side of the shop. We were also thinking lampshades... what do you think?

{london, interrupted]

For the first 6 months of my life here in London, I was unable to work.  Living with a tourist visa in one of the most expensive cities in the world wasn't exactly a walk in the park. Once my tourist visa expired, I was forced to take a brief trip back to Canada and (quite rightly) sort myself out. Now, I'm back with a brand new, shiny work visa! Oooohh the opportunities!

Who knows what I'll do? I could make shoes, write poetry or polish fruit. I hear philosophers do quite well for themselves. But never mind, all in good time. Meanwhile, I've been voguing. Let me know what you think!

Just Touched Down in London Town

Hey-

I'm baaaacckkk!  After a few months of sorting work-visas, plane tickets and whatnot, I'm home and settled comfortably again. I'll tell you more about that later. Now it's time for some much needed inspiration!

Although we're in the middle of a heat wave, I thought it best to give you some Autumn love.  It's my favourite time of year. The warm and familiar colours of rust, crimson and chocolate remind me of starting Kindergarden. The nostalgic smells of apples, spices, pumpkin pie and cranberry warm my heart, signalling the pre-holiday excitement. I've already started stocking my liquor cabinet full of holiday cheer like brandy, spiced rum and Bailey's.

During the Holidays I always fill my kitchen with loads of baked goods, buy tins and send them home with friends as token gifts. I change around my decor a bit so it seems less fresh, which was perfect for the summer months, but now we all need something a bit more cozy. I achieve this by adding extra throw blankets and pillows in warm colours and lighting candles in those beloved autumn smells.

Part of the excitement of Autumn is Halloween as well. Remember that pumpkins last for ages, so they're a fantastic investment. Past Halloween, you can make pumpkin pies, and freeze them for Christmas. But the best part of Autumn, is the ability to wear clothes again. Layers, scarves, boots, shawls, hats and mitts get pulled out of storage and back in to our lives.

I've left you with a few pieces of Autumn inspiration below.

All my love,

because i finally have something to say..

After several months of traipsing around London with my head in the clouds, ready to head back to my beloved Paris and practicing French verbs, a wrench was thrown in my plans and I was left utterly devastated and irrevocably heartbroken. Alas, I cannot return to my Paris life as I had hoped, and am left in London amongst cheerful people, umbrellas, big red buses and bad teeth. Woe is me.

Is there anything more humbling than losing everything you took for granted? I doubt it. Trust me, I've done the leg work. In fact, I can say with total confidence that it took losing my Parisian life to fully appreciate how glorious my life is in London. Albeit, the people aren't as beautiful, the food isn't as good and the street style is honestly painful at times. Even still, I've found London to be surprisingly cosmopolitain, friendly, clean and most importantly, sexy. My journey around Britain has been enriching and sometimes just as awe-inspring as the cobbled streets of Paris.

Of course, I will never let Paris go. The City of Love will always have my heart. But lets be honest, I don't think we were ever exclusive. I think that Paris and I were in an open relationship. I hope so, because I've fallen in love with London.

because i'm in london

So kiddies, I've been gone. For that, I'm sorry. But I have to admit, my brief Parisian life inspired me to write about as much as sitting in a Police Station would inspire a person to dance.

Contrarily, Paris inspired me to cry, scream, sleep and crumble all in the name of sheer happiness. I hadn't the time nor will to sit in front of my beloved MacBook and shed my usual shameless cliches, stock nouns and slack verbs.

I'm sitting in an overpriced lounge at a London train centre, waiting, writing and reflection on the week thats passed. I've found myself blind with euphoria and laughing so hard I was embarrassed, simply because I didn't know how else to deal.  I walked (although with a very experienced and sexy tour guide), through the areas in Paris that are worthy of happy tears.  I ate Paris food, I walked Paris streets, I lived a real Paris life, and now I'm gone. (Moment of silence please.)

And now I'm over it.

London has welcomed me with open, fish'n'chip filled arms.

I have photos, yes. But they're stuck in a camera with no way out. So for now you're left with photos from my MacBook's photo booth.

I'll make my exit on two notes, one is a photo of the first (terrible tasting and overpriced) meal I've had in London.

The second is this:

There's an age old saying; "Yes a bird may love a fish, but where would they live?"

Apparently, they'd live in London.

Until next time,
